Hot Springs.

Today I woke up to my mother’s car broken into, her bag and keys missing. This obviously meant, every card contained within that bag had to be called up and cancelled. The passenger side lock was hanging out, by the looks of it, forced out with a flat screwdriver.

After reporting it to the police, my father sister and I went on a trip to Spring Lane hot springs. Funnily enough, whenever I hear hot springs, I can’t help but remember one particular girl, complain about sexism in an elevator when an hotel attendant told her it was ‘for men only.’ She threw a cute tantrum. That would’ve been my first hot spring experience, if I had not decided to leave it and stay with her instead.

Today, it was more of a hot ‘pool’ rather than a hot ‘spring’. Traditional hot springs (eg. Hokkaido, Japan) you have to go in naked, and it’s all natural complete with rocks; eating and drinking allowed. Today the pools were man made, bathers accompanied every patron, no eating or drinking was allowed and the temperature in the waters controlled.

Still when I think of hot springs, I find myself smiling ever so slightly, at that one memory of the girl in the elevator.
